Clearing the memory of your box: (Updated Feb 22, 2007)--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reset Procedure and using the filter responsibly: Please Read!
Firstly, please don't go crazy with the filter. The filter does require a little maintenance to insure smooth and uninterrupted use. The filter should only be used for special occasions or special events because of the maintenance required. It's not a miracle worker like the old analog black boxes were but it's the only product that will work on digital cable at the moment.
Your box may keep a record of pay per view events in it's log and therefore will require a reset to clear the memory of the box. That is what the filter does, it traps the billing signal from leaving your box to give you time to reset the memory. We have acquired the knowledge of many cable employees and the wealth of information on the internet to find the secret reset procedures the cable companies never thought would get out.
It is these secrets that are listed below and will require you to experiment a little until you find the exact method of resetting your box. If you can't find the reset procedure for your box below then you might want to get creative and do a search for your box's reset procedures. The internet is a wonderful thing and it is a great tool, so use it.
3rd 17th and the 22nd of each month are not good days to use the filter and this is why it is a good idea to put the filter on, watch your pay per view, reset the box and then take it off. Rest assured that when you do find your reset procedure it will become second nature and only take you a minute or two to do. If you forget about these days and watch a pay per view on them it's not the end of the world, just do the reset and take the filter off after you're done watching it. They are bad days because the cable company likes to stay in communication with the boxes and the filter may disrupt their communication with the box.
So now you are acquainted with what the filter does. Lets move on to the correct way of testing it out.
Below you will find the reset procedures for many makes and models of boxes. You will want to go to your section and look them over. You will want to start with the first procedure listed for your box. You then watch your movie, and then keep the filter on and do the first method listed. After doing the first procedure you should take the filter off. Wait a few days and then check your account online or over their phone system to see if you were billed. If the charge doesn't show up then congratulations! You have found your correct method and can now use the filter freely.
If you were charged then you will want to try and order another pay per view except this time, try the next reset procedure listed for your box. etc, etc, until you find the correct reset method for your box. Doing it this way may cost you a couple of pay per view charges but will significantly save you time in the future instead of doing all of the reset procedures every time you need to reset because you don't know which one is actually working.

MOST BOXES
Reset 1: One thing that will always help, regardless of the below reset procedures is the following (it never hurts to do this, because it automatically clears all memory while you are sleeping and it is relatively easy to do) (This procedure works for SOME people, so may not work for you but you can try before trying the more proven ones below)
Unplug your box from the POWER SOURCE when you go to sleep and leave it unplugged for 24 hours(48 hours has more of a chance to work and this is because the longer the battery is left without any power, the more chance there is that all the memory will get deleted because there isn’t enough power to hold it there-the power stays for a little while because of the charge, but eventually it drains out). This should reset the memory-Now power the box back on and go through the INITIAL TEST as explained in the beginning to make sure the reset worked. If this procedure worked for you then great, use it always in the future and do not bother with the below ones.)
Reset 2:
1. Unplug your power cord from the box (NOT THE WALL!)
2. Wait 3-5 min... No more than 5 MIN (very important)
3. Hold down the power and select button at the same time and don’t let go.
4. Have someone plug the power back in… and keep holding the power and select button. You should see it counting down from 300+ to 0
5. Don’t let go until it gets to 0 (it's about 5 min)
6. Once it gets to 0 then it will stop counting down, that when you let go!!
7. Don’t touch anything, what you did is clear the power supply bat' and that will clear the EPROM from the last time the cable company called up to it, basically you just reset the MAC address.
8. The screen will reset and it will go blank. Just want 5 min and wait for the clock to come back on. DONT TOUCH THE BOX UNTIL THE CLOCK COMES BACK ON!!!!!!!
9. Now the clock is back on and NOW you can press the power button. Go to your settings and you can see all your past PPV was cleared, Even the pending ones!
PIONEER BOXES
1. Unplug the box from the back of the box.
2. Wait for 4 minutes.
3. Plug the box back in while holding in the power and select buttons.
4. Hold buttons till display reads 6013
5. Unplug box again
6. Plug box in again and let it recycle until system restarts.
OR
1. Leave the filter attached to the terminal.
2. Press and hold the SELECT and POWER buttons on the cable box at the same time for about 20 seconds. [Sometimes the SELECT button is located only on the remote.]
3. Next, immediately remove the POWER CORD of your cable box from the POWER SOURCE of the box (If you cannot remove from the box itself, then remove it from the OUTLET IN THE WALL).
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. Finally, reconnect the power cable to wherever you disconnected it from and wait for the box to make a “click” sound before turning it back on.
6. The box memory should now be cleared.

OR

If you look thru the vents on top of the box (some boxes have it some don’t) there should be a small blue “thing” (not sure what it’s called) with a button facing forward. The “thing” should be labeled 'SW100' but possibly something else(so just look for something that looks like what’s described). If you poke something long and skinny thru there (some use an Allen Wrench) and press the button the box will shut down and reset itself.

OR

Unplug the power of your digital box and hold down the ON/OFF button and the SETUP buttons and plug it back in. Hold these two buttons down for 15 seconds after powering ON and release.

OR

Unplug the power, hold down the ON/OFF switch and GUIDE buttons (may be on remote) and plug it back in. Continue holding for 15 seconds and release.
OR
Simultaneously press VOL+, VOL- and INFO buttons on the front of your Digital Cable Box and hold until box shuts down. Release the buttons and box will automatically reset (Feedback from customer: The trick is that you have to press the buttons at least 4 or 5 times to actually reset and erase the memory of the box.) Press CBL on remote to turn Box on. Menu screen will need to be reloaded may take a few seconds/minutes.

OR

It is also possible to clear the memory by repeatedly plugging/unplugging the cable box from the power outlet. While at the same time, repeatedly pressing the POWER button on the box (leaving the filter attached).

OR

One way to reset the cable box is to de-magnetize the memory. Just get a giant magnet and drag it across the top your cable box until it “zaps”.

3. Now, unplug your cable box from the electrical outlet
4. One person must hold in the power and guide button together for about 20 seconds.[ If you do not have the guide button-use the select button instead- Sometimes the SELECT button is located only on the remote.]
5. Have another person plug the cable box back into the electrical outlet while the first person holds the power and guide button
6. Continue to hold the power and guide button until you see the guide clear in approximately one minute (you will see this on the TV screen)
7. Once you see the TV go "haywire" the box has reset. Most users will experience their guides not being ready for about an hour. Don't be alarmed, it will come back.
If above instructions do not clear your memory use the below instructions:

RARE CASES
If for some reason you have a rare model that doesn't reset with any of the directions above:For this rare scenario there is only one thing that can clear the memory and that is a magnet. A normal magnet that you get from a hardware store will do. You will need to open the box with a screwdriver, alan wrench, or other appropriate tool (can be bought at radio shack) and then apply the magnet to the box's memory chip. Look for the black memory chip and leave the magnet on it for 5 minutes. Do this to anything resembling a memory chip.
After that you can remove the filter. If the box isn't working right, call the cable company and tell them that your kids were messing with the box and that it's not working right. They will reprogram it over the phone. If you open your box and don’t see a chip but a purple battery then you should use the below instruction. If you think you have both and are in doubt email us….
1. Unplug the box, disconnect all cables and remove the filter.
2. Using a Jerrold or GI tool (available at Sears or Radio Shack) simply open up the box and disconnect the battery. Almost all the batteries inside are purple. It will do a cold reset every time the power is cut off.
3. After you plug the box back in, the box will say 0 and will be all the way to the right of the LCD. You have to call the cable company and tell them your box froze. They will tell you how to cold reset and ask you to do this. Play along and follow their lead. Once they send the re-initialization signal and the menus and on-screen programming are up and running with all the correct show times, put the filter back on and enjoy all over again.
4. Please remember to always take the filter off for re-initialization or you won't get the PPVs. There is no need to modify the box until the PPVs stop coming in. There are a few systems that don't use a system for security but every cable company will eventually! Every cable company programs their boxes differently.

IF YOUR BOX IS LOCKED UP
INSTRUCTION #1 If your box is locked up (you must reset before calling the Cable Company and the reset procedure is different when the box is locked up)
If your box happens to have a problem or the box has locked up due to incorrect installation or reset and is a Motorola, GI or Scientific Atlanta box, here is the reset procedure that does work to reset the memory of these boxes.
1. Unplug the power of your digital box and hold the on/off button and the setup button down and plug it back in.
2. Hold these 2 buttons down for 15 seconds and that will reset your box.
3. Remove the filter, call the cable company and have them reset your box.
4. Reinstall the filter and you will be good to go.
ALL Others:
5. Unplug the box, disconnect all cables and remove the filter.
6. Using a Jerrold or GI tool (available at Sears or Radio Shack) simply open up the box and disconnect the battery. Almost all the batteries inside are purple. It will do a cold reset every time the power is cut off.
7. After you plug the box back in, the box will say 0 and will be all the way to the right of the LCD. You have to call the cable company and tell them your box froze. 8. Please remember to always take the filter off for re-initialization or you won't get the PPVs. There is no need to modify the box until the PPVs stop coming in. There are a few systems that don't use a system for security but every cable company will eventually! Every cable company programs their boxes differently.

INSTRUCTION #2 IF YOUR BOX HAS LOCKED UP
1. Starting when the box is on, hold power and select for 20 seconds.
2. As soon as you let them go unplug the box, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in, now your memory is clear.
3. Take off the filter and plug cable directly into box.
4. Call your cable company and tell them that your guide is not showing and they will send a reset signal to your box. First they will ask you if you have tried some stuff, tell them you have tried everything and no guide is showing.
5. As soon as they tell you that they sent the reset and are telling you to wait until you see the time up, put the filter back on.

INSTRUCTION #3 IF YOUR BOX HAS LOCKED UP
FOR MOTOROLA DCT-2000-1 INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Unplug the box
2. Hold power and select and while holding both buttons, plug the box back in without letting go of the 2 buttons
3. Call the cable company and have them reset your box.
Warning: Do not try this method unless you want to talk to your cable operator. Your box and guide will not work and you will have to call to reset the box and the guide. So it does reset the box, but PPV purchases remains.

Call in Trick for ordering if you have to phone in your order - the filter will PROBABLY not work- BUT IF you can actually call an 800 # that is given on your screen and order through an automated system, here is how you can order the movie (this NEW option was just discovered):
When ordering PPV, call the 800 number on screen to order PPV. But do not "hang up yet", when you call that number. The system sends signal to your box to turn on that channel. Now, here is the trick! Right when the PPV channel appears, either unplug the box or disconnect input cable from box. Right after disconnecting, you cancel order by pressing #9 on the phone. The reason you do this is after you cancel your order, the system sends another signal to your box to "turn off" that PPV channel! If the box is unplugged or disconnected, it cannot read that signal, leaving PPV turned on! Hook your box up after 30 seconds and you can watch your movie!

Disclaimer: If you have to call in to order your pay per views then this will not work for you. You must be able to order them through your remote! Once the filter is installed on your box DO NOT REMOVE IT without resetting the box first! It may result in charges! This is not a descrambler and will not descramble channels. This is to insure your privacy only. It is your responsibility to contact your cable company and notify them of the pay per views you watch since they will never know.
